Legal, licensed ticket brokers provide a safe, secure way to buy tickets
at market value. It's much safer to buy tickets from a licensed broker
than to buy tickets on the street or through an internet auction or
classified ad website. Tickets available through such websites are
sometimes counterfeit, stolen, or being sold illegally. Ticket Brokers,
on the other hand, are licensed, legal, and most conform to the
NATB Code
of Ethics.
Choose your seats on the broker's website, enter your payment information, and you're done. When possible, some brokers will even email the tickets for you to print at home. Others will send the tickets to you via postal mail or express delivery.
Understanding the Ticket Market
The good seats are usually gone before the public sale begins. Fan club
and presale events, radio station giveaways, tickets for sponsors, and
tickets belonging to season ticket holders
account for a sizable portion of the most desirable tickets at many
sports, theatre, and music events. The best example of this is the Super
Bowl, for which only 34% of the tickets are available to the public.
The Good Tickets Are For Sale Later
It's a common complaint that ticket brokers charge prices above
face value. Once you understand that most tickets were never available
to the general public, it's clear that ticket brokers aren't taking
tickets away from the true fans. The truth is, in fact, the opposite.
Ticket brokers usually pay a premium to obtain the tickets. This
extra cost must be combined with the profit required to keep ticket
brokers in business. If
there were not a secondary market for the most desirable tickets, they
would never be available to the public at all.
